Thursday Therapy: The Web of Life

“The web of our life is of a mingled yarn; good and ill together”
As have most of you, I have had several transitions in my life.  Now I can use the word transition, during those times, I would have said crisis, trouble spot, bump in the road.  The darkest times of my life have served as opportunities to transform.
In retrospect, I see that I could not have crafted an ending to those specific stories in my life better than they turned out.  Due to my lack of imagination, closed off viewpoint or inflexibility to change, I would have tried to stay on the same path…the path that I thought was the right one to be on at that time.  Not only was I stubborn about it, at times I was self righteous…not a helpful combo.
With maturity comes wisdom (hopefully) and today I understand that “the web of our life is of a mingled yarn; good and ill together”.  The author of that quote may have intended a different meaning, but my interpretation serves my present life circumstance, or opportunity to transform.  My family is about to begin a chapter in our lives that we would have never imagined, would have never asked or planned for.  What I have learned is that, if I accept the ill as I accept the good, it makes life more interesting, more manageable and the tapestry of our lives more rich.
The truth is that none of us know how our stories are going to end.  Our job is to keep hold of the string that ties it all together.
Have a happy week~
